Malvasia is a dessert wine that is charactereized by golden yellow color and overall brightness. The bouquet gives off notes of caramel, plum, and raisin. There are also notes of mint and balsamic. The initial taste of orange blossom hits the tongue, then layers of sweet mint and raisins also come into play. It has a thicker consistency and is heavy on the palate.
The Malvasia scored 86 points in the Wine Spectator.
Giona is located on the island of Salina. Dr. Jonah Hauner initiated the response for the need to produce Malvasia for a selected market. The farm is focused on producing a particular wine with a modern, cutting-edge approach.
